Robur Font is a serif typeface designed by Heinrich Jost and released through the German type foundry D. Stempel AG. The design is a revival of an early 20th-century original by Rudolf Koch, but with significant changes to both the letterforms and the overall proportions.

Robur Font was first released in a single weight in 1922, with subsequent releases including italics (1923), light and bold weights (1924), and condensed and extended versions (1925). Jost made further changes to the design in 1931, resulting in the release of Robur Schmalfett (“narrow Robur”) and Robur Breitfett (“wide Robur”).

The original Robur design is characterized by its high x-height, small counter forms, and dramatic thicks-to-thins. Jost’s changes increased the x-height and made the counters more open while retaining the overall proportions of Koch’s design.

Who Used Robur Font?

Robur Font is best used for headlines and short blocks of text. It’s particularly well suited for display purposes, such as in advertising and branding. The high x-height makes it highly legible in large sizes, while the small counters give it a compact appearance that helps it stand out on the page.

Robur Font has been used extensively in both body text and display settings. It was particularly popular in Germany in the early 20th century and has been used by notable German publications such as Die Zeit and Der Spiegel. Moreover, you can also try gabriola font for your logos and other typography designs as well.

Today, Robur Font is available from a number of different types of foundries, in both digital and physical formats. This is not a google typeface but it is commonly used in photoshop or Word software to make projects.
